Brady vs Belichick Equals Ratings

Section 247 Sports host Brett Halpern loves to joke that factions equal ratings. He can now add Brady vs Belichick to his list of what “equals rating.”

The return of Tom Brady to New England drew an unbelievable 28.5 million viewers to NBC’s Sunday Night Football. That’s the largest SNF audience since the 2012 week 17 Dallas-Washington battle for the NFC East.

SportsBiz: AEW Dynamite Defeats WWE Raw in Key Demographic

The post-All Out edition of AEW Dynamite was a rousing success for AEW and TNT. As first reported by Wrestlenomics, AEW Dynamite drew 1.319 million viewers for last night’s broadcast on TNT. That is a MASSIVE increase from the previous episode which drew 1.047 million viewers.

The viewers are fantastic but what’s really trending well for AEW was another demographic rating success. It’s the demo ratings, in this case 18-to-49, that drives TV ad revenue and future TV deals. In this case they bested the incumbent pro wrestling sports entertainment competition WWE Monday Night Raw.

AEW Dynamite‘s 18-to-49 demo rating for Wednesday came in at 0.53 or 681,000 viewers a significant increase from the previous Wednesday, 0.38. Monday Night Raw was watched by 678,000 viewers in the same demographic. The top segment on Dynamite was the showdown between Bryan Danielson and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Over 1-million viewers stayed for this segment.

NXT Viewership Sees a Slight Gain Against NBA Play-In’s

WWE NXT saw a slight viewership gain this week against stiff competition from the NBA play-in tournament. NXT on USA drew 700,000 viewers a slight up uptick from last week according to ShowBuzz Daily. The NBA drew a massive 2.5 million from the same general audience.

NXT’s numbers have torpedoed since moving from Wednesday night to Tuesday night. The April 13 episode, the first on a Tuesday, drew 805,000 and there has been a drop since. The key demographic numbers have fallen as well from a peak of .22 to .15 in the 18-49 demo.

AEW Dynamite Viewership Drops

AEW Dynamite saw a decline in viewers and ratings just one week after winning the night. The follow up to Blood and Guts drew 954,000 viewers and a .42 in the 18-49 demographic.

AEW loaded Dynamite with three title matches and began their set up for Double or Nothing. Many thought Dynamite was a better show compared to Blood and Guts.

It will be interesting to see how Dynamite does with viewers over the next month as they get shuffled around to different time slots due to the NBA Playoffs.

Raw Viewership Climbs

Here’s some good news on the viewership front for WWE, viewers for this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw saw about a 200,000 viewer increase at it’s peak. Viewers climbed to 1.97 million from 1.74 million the week before. Raw was the number one show for viewers in the ever important 18-49 year old demographic peaking at a .57 demographic rating.

WWE looks to keep the momentum going next week with the go home edition of Raw leading into WrestleMania: Backlash and the possible appearance of the great Eva Marie.
