WOJ: Ben Simmons and Sixers Reach an Agreement on His Salary Grievance

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Sixers and Ben Simmons have reached a settlement agreement regarding Simmons’s salary grievance.

Simmons filed a grievance after the Sixers withheld nearly $20 million from the embattled former superstar. Simmons never played a game for the team during the 2021-22 season and was shipped to Brooklyn as part of the James Harden trade.

As Woj points out, the Sixers maintain Simmons violated his contract thus the docking of his pay.

Sports Media: Big Ten Close to Media Rights Deal with Fox, CBS, & NBC

A B1G (pun intended) shoe is set to drop in the college sports media world. According to multiple reports, the Big Ten conference is poised to strike a media rights deal with Fox Sports, CBS, and NBC. The deal would end the conference’s 40-plus-year relationship with ESPN.

The deal is expected to be worth $1 BILLION annually.

Philadelphia and Reading…Perfect Together! Flyers and Royals Extend Partnership

The Philadelphia Flyers and the Reading Royals have announced and extension of their partnership. Reading, the Flyers ECHL affiliate, has signed an affiliation agreement through the 2023-24 season with an option for a third.

Reading has been the Flyers primary ECHL affiliate since 2014-2015 season.

Philadelphia Eagles are Worth $4.7 BILLION

Sportico unveiled their annual list of professional sports team valuations on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Eagles make the Top Ten of most valuable NFL franchises and the Top Fifteen of North American sports teams.

The Birds ranked ninth with a value of $4.7 billion. That’s BILLION, with a capital B.

Jeffrey Lurie bought the franchise from idiot Norman Braman in 1994 for a cool $185 million. That’s not a bad investment!

The Eagles also saw their value increase from the previous year. The Eagles value shot up 21% from 2021 to 2022.

The average NFL franchise valuation is now above $4 billion a year. The average team saw an 18% increase in year over prior.

MLB Legend Vin Scully Passes Away

An exciting day in the world of baseball ended on a sad note Tuesday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers announced that longtime voice of the franchise Vin Scully passed away. The legendary Scully was 94-years old.

Scully joined the Dodgers organization in 1950 when the team still resided in Brooklyn, New York. He called games for 67-seasons, retiring after the 2016 season. No other announcer has come close to Scully’s tenure with one organization.

2022 MLB Trade Deadline: Phillies Target Noah Syndergaard to Boost Rotation

According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels have been discussing multiple trades including starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard.  The Phillies are also reportedly interested in Angels backup center fielder Brandon Marsh according to NBC Sports Jim Salisbury. 

On the Syndergaard front, the Phillies have competition from the Toronto Blue Jays and the Atlanta Braves.
