Woj Bomb: NBA Investigating the Sixers for Tampering

“Woj bomb” incoming, duck!

Well, there it is.

The NBA is investigating the Philadelphia 76ers for tampering according to the intrepid Adrian Wojnarowski. The investigation centers around James Harden’s rejection of his player option for 2022-23. Harden recently re-signed with the Sixers on a team friendly two-year, $68.5 million deal.

The Harden deal allowed the Sixers to sign PJ Tucker, Danuel House, De’Anthony Melton, and Trevelin Queen. This has made the NBA upset.

Jim’s Steaks on South St is on Fire

The Philadelphia Fire Department is currently engaged in firefighting operations at Jim’s Steaks on South Street. The fire is currently at a 2nd alarm with exterior attack only due to the conditions of the structure.

The evacuation order was given by battalion chief 4 at 1053 hours.

Philadelphia Flyers Re-sign Owen Tippett

The Philadelphia Flyers announced the re-signing of restricted free agent Owen Tippett. The two-year deal is worth an average annual value (AAV) of $1.5 million.Tippett was acquired by the Flyers on March 19 from Florida as part of the Claude Giroux trade. 

The 23-year old recorded seven points (4G, 3A), averaged just over 15-minutes of ice time a game in 21-games with the Orange and Black.

Adidas Will Stop Making NHL Uniforms After 2023-24

ESPN is reporting that NHL uniform maker, Adidas, will not renew its contract when it expires after the 2023-24 season. Adidas took over the NHL’s uniforms in 2017.

That noise you hear is fans celebrating. Yes, there are people that really care about this stuff.

Adidas is responsible for bringing the “Reverse Retro” program to the league in the 2020-21 season. The program, which has been Adidas’s most popular move on the ice, will return this upcoming season.

Rocky Thompson Added to Philadelphia Flyers Coaching Staff

The Philadelphia Flyers have officially added Rocky Thompson as an assistant coach according to the organ-I-zations press release.  The move was first reported on July 14 by SportsNet Canada’s Elliotte Friedman.  Thompson and assistant coach Brad Shaw will join John Tortorella behind the bench.  

The 44-year old Thompson comes to the Flyers with seven-years of professional (AHL, NHL) coaching experience with the Oilers organization and the Chicago Wolves.  Thompson spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant with the San Jose Sharks. He did not coach in 2021-22 due to NHL’s COVID-19 protocols. 

During his time with San Jose, Thompson was reportedly involved in an altercation with divisive star Evander Kane

AEW Sets Date for Debut in Canada

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is going north of the border, eh. 

The promotion announced their Canadian debut during Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.  AEW will air Dynamite and Rampage from the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario on October 12 and 13, respectively. There were reportedly plans to tour Canada in mid-to-late 2020, however the tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  AEW President and CEO Tony Khan made it known that a Canadian tour was coming but it was just a matter of when.  The “when” now has a date. 

Tickets for the two-night event go on-sale this Friday.

SportsRadio 94 WIP Officially Announces Replacements for Ray Didinger

As first reported months ago by Crossing Broad, SportsRadio 94 WIP has tabbed the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Mike Sielski and Jody McDonald to partner with Glen Macnow on the weekends. Sielski will join Macnow on Saturday’s and McDonald will take the Sunday shift.

AEW World Trios Championship to Debut at All Out
